Trade Office - Introduction
INTRODUCTION

In accordance with the UAE Federal Government Strategy, the Ministry of Foreign Trade was established in February of 2008 with HE Sheikha Lubna Al Qassimi appointed as Minister of Foreign Trade. The move aligns with the commitment evident in the Federal Strategy for further specialization across federal government institutions as demanded by the UAE’s economic diversification and expansion plans.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade has embarked on a mission to restructure and expand the operations of all Trade Offices representing the UAE in major economies. Under this task the Ministry began the Commercial Office in India. India is one of the UAE’s important economic partners.

Today, UAE is not only India’s largest trading partner but also its foremost export destination with the total bilateral trade of USD 48.3 billion. UAE Invested more than USD 5 billion in India through FDI and FII routes positioning UAE as the 9th largest foreign direct investor in India.

The mission of the UAE Commercial Office in India is to further enhance and foster the positive nature of the UAE-India bilateral trade and commerce relationship. Mr Mana S. Sultan Al Suwaidi, UAE Commercial Attaché to India is heading Commercial Office.
