The UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade has embarked on a mission to restructure and expand the operations of all Trade Offices representing the UAE in major economies. This task has begun with the Trade Office in New Delhi. India is one of the UAE’s most important economic partners.
The traditionally close and friendly UAE-India bilateral relationship has evolved into a significant partnership in the economic and commercial sphere with both countries achieving the status of the largest partners of each other in terms of two-way merchandise trade. UAE - India trade, valued at US $ 180 million per annum in the 1970s, is today valued at US$ 43.5 billion (2009-2010).
There is an estimated US$ 6.5 billion UAE investment in India of which about US$ 1.9 billion is in the form of foreign direct investment, while the remaining as portfolio investment. UAE is the tenth biggest investor in India in terms of FDI.
Over the span of three decades, the UAE managed to diversify its economy and consistently adapt to an ever-changing world. This exceptional achievement can be attributed to the role the UAE plays as an economic oasis, which serves as a hub for international trade, business development, tourism, and financial services.
The mission of the UAE Commercial Office in the India is to further enhance and maintain the positive nature of the UAE-India bilateral trade and commerce relationship. The intent of this website is to assist individuals and companies in both countries, who seek information on trade and commerce in the UAE. I hope you will find it useful and help meet your objectives.
